In our opinion, this kit is the best value personal fire mask product on the market. Not only does this set contain a smoke hood that offers 60 minutes of filtered air to aid your escape from a fire, but you also get the following safety equipment:

- An air filtration mask

- A whistle
All of the above comes in a good-quality zip case that allows for compact storage wherever you may require it, such as the glove compartment of a vehicle, in a handbag or rucksack, or maybe even a tent.
The smoke hood itself can be used by children aged 3 years and older and is made of a heat-reflective aluminium foil which minimises the heat around your head. A large PVC visor aids the user in their escape, and an elasticated neck on the hood ensures minimal smoke can enter from below.
To assist with your escape, this survival kit also comes with a pair of heat-resistant gloves. These would be particularly useful, for example, if you live in a high-rise block of flats and had many doors to open on your route out of the building. If the air is particularly polluted, the additional air filtration respirator mask can be used in addition the smoke hood, or it can be given to another person for basic protection. Once you have successfully made your escape, you’ll likely be standing outside in the cold waiting for the emergency services. This is when the blanket comes in extremely useful as it can retain up to 90% of your body heat.
With all of the above included you might expect the price to be astronomical, but you will be delighted to find out that this is not the case. In fact, it costs less than half the price of the Dräger PARAT 5510, which we also review. However, it is still CE rated which means the fire mask complies with the relevant EU legislation covering smoke hoods so you can be confident in its ability to save you in a fire emergency.
It is important to note that this smoke hood is only for one-time use and has a 5 year shelf life due to the filtration method used degrading over time.
